Enlighten Co-Founder

Janna Lowery is a highly experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) with 28 years of dedicated service in neonatal intensive care units (NICU). She graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and furthered her education by earning a Master’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, solidifying her expertise in neonatal care. Her extensive career has been centered around providing exceptional care to the most vulnerable infants, ensuring they receive the best possible start in life. As a board-certified NNP with specialized credentials in extremely low birth weight (C-ELBW) care, Janna is known for her compassionate approach and deep commitment to her patients and their families.

Driven by a deep passion for keeping babies at home with their mothers and families, Janna is now channeling her extensive experience into a new venture: a home phototherapy business. Partnering with her lifelong coworker and fellow NNP, Mindy Wilson, Janna is on a mission to help prevent unnecessary NICU admissions by offering home-based phototherapy solutions. Their innovative approach aims to provide effective care for jaundiced newborns while allowing families to stay together during those crucial early days.

Outside of her professional life, Janna has been married to her high school sweetheart, Jeff, for nearly 30 years. Together, they have raised two sons, Brandtley and Braxton, both of whom are closely tied to the University of Alabama. Brandtley, a proud graduate, is living his best life post-college, while Braxton is working toward a degree in Sports Management.

When she is not caring for newborns or running her business, Janna enjoys spending time scrapbooking, indulging in all things Disney, and cheering for the University of Alabama. She also has a love of traveling, which she embraces whenever possible, exploring new destinations and creating lasting memories. Her love for her family extends to their loyal Boxer, Luna, who completes the Lowery household.

Janna Lowery's life is a beautiful blend of professional dedication and personal passions, marked by her unwavering commitment to improving the lives of newborns and their families, both in the NICU and beyond.
